Membership Information

The Southern California Independent Booksellers Association (SCIBA) membership year runs through December 31 of each year. Dues must be paid by February 28 to be included in the SCIBA Guide to Independent Bookstores and the SCIBA Membership Handbook. Membership is open to retail bookstores, as well as to book publishers, distributors, sales reps, vendors, prospective booksellers, and others in the bookselling community.   • SCIBA booksellers rubbed elbows at meetings throughout the Southland recently to talk about how to best make IndieBound work for them, using the Holiday Catalog to increase sales and visibility and taking advantage of the Mentor program to improve their businesses.

    Over 100 school librarians, teachers and administrators attended the SCIBA Children’s Books and Literacy Dinner recently. Frank Beddor, Dean Lorey and Jon J. Muth headlined the event as featured speakers, with Robin Preiss Glasser, dressed to the Fancy Nancy hilt, acting as mistress of ceremonies.
