So, here's the deal.  Contribute to the Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship Fund by September 1 and Adrian Newell will match your donation, dollar for dollar, up to $500.00.    Why, you ask, is Adrian challenging us to contribute?  Well, it's really quite simple.  Glenn and Adrian had a very special relationship that began with their love of books, bookselling and booksellers.  Adrian established the scholarship to honor Glenn and to support booksellers in furthering their education and careers in bookselling.  SCIBA is proud to administer this scholarship fund in memory of Glenn and all that was important to him in our bookselling community.    Any amount from $1.00 to $1000.00 is appreciated and needed.

Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship Application Deadline September 1!

GGBS Application

This year the Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship Fund (GGBSF) will make two awards. One scholarship will be for SCIBA's Authors Feast & Trade Show, October 22, 2011. This scholarship will include a ticket to the Authors Feast & Book Award Dinner, a Saturday night stay at the Hilton Long Beach Hotel the night of the dinner and a transportation allowance to/from the event. The second scholarship will be for the seventh annual ABA Winter Institute (2012). The scholarship will provide hotel stay for three nights and a reasonable transportation allowance.

Applicant Requirements:

• Must be currently employed in a brick and mortar bookstore that is a member of SCIBA.
• Minimum of two years experience in bookselling.
• To qualify for the Winter Institute Scholarship your bookstore must be a member of ABA.

Please complete this application and send to the SCIBA office by September 1, 2011. The GGBS committee will review all applications and make their awards by October 1, 2011.

Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship Fund

SCIBA is accepting donations to the GGBSF. The Glenn Goldman Booksellers Scholarship will be awarded to young booksellers with a dedication to bookselling as a career choice who have worked in the bookselling industry for at least two years. The selection committee will be headed by Adrian Newell. Please make checks payable to GGBSF/SCIBA and mail to the SCIBA office. For further information or questions contact Jennifer Bigelow.
